The Lady Minimalists will present a site-specific, interactive project at Axle Contemporary, a mobile gallery of contemporary art in Santa Fe. We have created dozens of tiny works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, printed paper and other media. Attached to the sides of the gallery space with magnets, the little "paintings" are moveable and interchangeable by viewers. Above you can see some of our artworks in possible arrangements, as well as the outside of Axle's small but mighty gallery, which travels around town like a lending library taking art to the public.
We've named our project "Magnetic Drift" to suggest movement and possibility. Drifting west at the rate of 55 miles a year, the magnetic north pole is headed for Siberia, and from there, who knows? Our exhibit will debut with each artist's works arranged together on the wall in a configuration of her choice. Once the viewing public starts to play with the little art pieces....
The project opens its doors from 5 to 7:00 on Friday, September 6th, when the gallery will be parked at the Santa Fe Railyard. The exhibit will run through September in various sites around town. In the spirit of play, we have priced our work extremely low to be affordable and collectible for all. So if you are in Santa Fe on the 6th, come on by!
Beautiful! Can't wait to see the work and play.
